The title “Ideas and Opinion” is this writers general disclaimer.
Everything we assert (including this assertion), is mere opinion which is formed from experience and observation from a singular point of reference. We have two eyes and ears to improve our depth perception, but even so, our minds process and store the information in one brain, with two lobes working in unison. Our eyes perceive as much depth as we need to function on a local level, but a large array telescope is much more capable of observing objects at great distances. Our two ears allow us to judge the direction from which a sound emanates, but factors such as noise, refraction, reflection and absorption can limit this sense to a great degree.
We have learned through science that objects can often appear vastly different when viewed from different points of reference. We refer to this as “Relativity” in science. The concept of relativity can be applied to everything, including our own personal observations of the behavior of our peers. We all have a unique life experience, and we form our opinions based upon the composite of those experiences. Our wonderful brains compile these observations with the right side being the logical, and the left side being the creative. This combination of art and science is one of the great mysteries of life itself.
Albert Einstein said something to the effect of “Spirituality without science is blind, Science without Spirituality is lame” (FYI not the exact quote). I believe he was not expressing a dogmatic religious belief, but the combination of creativity and logic in the human mind. He was expressly not atheist, and tended toward Pantheism as a spiritual and/or philosophical preference.
I have at times been accused of being somewhat heavy handed and overly confident in my assertions. This may be justified at times, as every man has an ego and the ever present burden of pride. I think of pride and ego as a dragon which must be watched at all times, and is best kept on a short leash. That being said, an assertion is an assertion, and is best presented as if it were a fact from the writer’s point of view at the time it is made.
My disclaimer here is that while I may strongly assert my opinions, one should be well aware that these are my opinions, and should only be treated as such. Your results may vary. I will not add the disclaimer of “in my opinion” or “I believe” or “it seems to me” to every line or paragraph of my assertions. That would become rather tedious.
I love a good, productive and honest debate. You are welcome here regardless of any differences of opinion we may have.
DISCLAIMER: Please kindly assume that any assertions I make in these pages are only my humble opinion, always subject to change, and always welcoming challenge by others with different perspectives.
While I disagree with some of your statements/opinions on other substack sites, I appreciate your respectful approach to other people's opinions, and I look forward to reading all of your articles. But at the moment I'm busy getting out the next article on my own substack site, which is also free and also recently launched this month. And I like the idea of your Disclaimer right up front. It sets the tone of respect.
There is something about you that wakens my consciousness. Some of your comments on other sub stacks irritate me. However, there is something uniquely appealing to me. Maybe I sense your ability to grow.

Reading now Gandalf. Just for a bit and more when time permits. Thx.
Technical question, GG: how did you get that Disclaimer box to stay at the top of your page like that? Is there a button somewhere for Disclaimers?
